Popis This paper explores the pedagogical value of using Latin translations of modern literary works in university-level Latin instruction. Over the past two centuries, such translations have been produced for various reasons, including to promote national literature, entertain, and, most importantly, to serve educational purposes. Despite the varying quality of these translations and the occasional intrusion of the translator's native language, they inherently engage learners. This study argues that, when utilised thoughtfully, these translations can significantly enhance Latin teaching. They offer not only a platform for practising Latin grammar and text comprehension but also an opportunity for lively discussions about translation techniques and Latin stylistic elements. Drawing on six years of teaching experience, this paper aims to provide insights into how Latin translations of contemporary works can be effectively integrated into the Latin curriculum to enrich students' learning journeys.
