| Popis | The medieval transformation of eastern Central Europe was signifi cantly shaped by the emergence of new elites of Slavic origin. In this context, the question arises as to how they emerged, where their origins lay, and how they projected their power. It can be posited with a reasonable degree of certainty that the Slavic elites had already established themselves on landed property by the ninth century. In this chapter, the author examines how the archaeological sources refl ect the existence and status of these early aristocratic, with a particular focus on the results of excavations in Pohansko near Břeclav (Czech Republic). |
