Popis In Moravia (the eastern part of what is now the Czech Republic), a part of barbarian Europe, a large and solid-state formation emerged towards the end of the first millennium – at least according to British historian Peter Heather, who believes that “. . . Moravia saw the fastest moving game of Pass the Eastern European Parcel”. With their military retinues and other followers, new rulers gained power and began to govern the land. 1 During this “game”, the former ranked tribal society was replaced by a hierarchically structured, closed society in which a noble class with birthrights had emerged.
