Popis The text focuses on some aspects of the conceptual grasp of the study of metal and religion in Central and Eastern Europe. In this respect, it focuses primarily on 2 areas: 1) religion in metal and 2) religion and metal in dialogue. In terms of the field of religion in metal, the text deals with Satanism and Paganism both at the level of discourse and religious identity, specifically using selected examples mostly from the Czechia and Poland. In the case of the area of religion and metal in dialogue, the text focuses on controversies and public debates, in which opponents of metal from conservative Christian circles are also present. In this respect, the text works mainly with examples from Poland and Slovakia. As the text also points out, in the study of metal in Central and Eastern Europe, it is necessary to take into account the cultural and historical development in the region, where the individual countries were formerly part of the so-called Eastern Bloc and underwent a transformation from socialism to post-socialism. As part of this development, a specific type of post-secularity has also established itself in Central and Eastern Europe, where conservative religious circles (again) have a significant influence in the public sphere and, for example, in politics, which is also reflected in controversies and public debates about metal.
