This project is lead by University of Connecticut, who is responsible for data collection. The project will develop a mobile toolkit to assess the causal relationship between religion and cooperation by integrating real-life data collection and cross-cultural experimentation. Using behavioral, survey, and experimental measures, the toolkit will track religious devotion and cooperation in dynamic, everyday contexts. The PI of the project will pilot the toolkit in Mauritius, an ideal setting due to its diverse religious landscape, allowing for meaningful comparisons across belief systems. In the long term, the project aims to create a scalable, open-access platform that will facilitate further studies on religion and cooperation, generating a large cross-cultural dataset and fostering interdisciplinary collaborations. The seed project will lay the groundwork for a global expansion, leading to a landmark study on the evolution of religious cooperation.
