Summary
The intention of the proposed project is the analysis of some remarkable German historiography texts from the Late Medieval Bohemian lands (e.g. the translations of the Autobiography Charles’ IV., of the Pulkava-Chronicle or the younger prose-translation of the Old Czech so called Dalimil-Chronicle). The resulting papers are to be published in the scientific journals, furthermore some hardly accessible primary texts will be made available online. Besides this, a bibliography of the relevant scientific publications on the given topic shall be collected and published in internet. The so far rather underestimated texts are an important part and testimony of the trilingual culture of the Late Medieval Bohemian lands. Moreover, some of them can be seen as a manifestation of the programmatic presentation of the Emperor Charles IV. regarding the history of the Crown Lands as well as his dynasty. Aside from this sphere, these monuments are a valuable language documents as well – the existence of the parallel versions in other languages also makes some specific comparative research possible.
