Research of vocal-instrumental music has been one of the most important themes of Brno musicology since its beginnings. These questions are currently the focus of interest of many young musicologists. First important progress in the research has been brought by the project Italian Opera in Moravia in the 1st Half of the 18th Century (GA408/05/2232), which set forward the research on opera seria in Moravia and brought also important impulses on the level of the all-European research. Main task of the project Research of the Opera Repertoire in the Bohemian Lands during the Baroque Period is to continue in collecting, exploring and analysing of the relevant music, written sources and libretti. Most of the suggested research concerns Moravian castle residences and towns, but also chosen questions concerning Bohemian locations will be researched. Questions concerning music productions and position of the native composers are to be dealt with as well. Discovered facts will be set into the context of the European development of the period.
