Multiple myeloma is the second most common hematological malignancy
of the elderly. Median age at diagnosis is 65. Bone marrow transplants as
well as new drugs (immunomodulatory drugs, proteasome inhibitors and
monoclonal antibodies) significantly increased survival of MM patients in
the past 10 years. Nevertheless, most patients still relapse. This project will
aim to analyze small molecules in peripheral blood as well as bone marrow
microenvironment of MM patients who underwent stem cell transplant and
new drugs treatments using next generation sequencing and mass
spectrometry to create a diagnostic tool based on prediction by artificial
neural networks that will help identify patients in high risk of relapse.
