As an indicator of the multidisciplinary nature of new actions, 54% of all actions cover at least two OECD science and technology areas, while 11% cover at least three domains.
The COST programme supports international cooperation in research, emphasizes the multidisciplinarity of projects and the involvement of young researchers. The COST Actions support only networking activities (e.g. short-term exchanges of researchers, virtual mobility, organisation of meetings, workshops and conferences), but not the costs of the research itself.
COST actions are often recommended as an excellent opportunity for building the international research collaboration.
