Humanities Week 2021: A hundred years past, a hundred years to come

As traditionally, we join the celebration of UNESCO World Philosophy Day by organizing the Humanities Week. The program of the event showcases the wide range of research and educational activities carried out at the Faculty and this year will focus thematically on the centenary of the start of teaching at the Faculty. However, it will also look to the future.

Kagutsuchi - 12 years old spring: painting introduction

On the occasion of the celebration of one hundred years of mutual relations between Czechoslovakia and Japan, the Faculty of Arts MU received a painting by a leading Japanese artist as a gift. It will be on display on the 1st floor of Building D.

We will talk about the symbolism and position of sword decoration in the context of Japanese art with Jakub Zeman, a leading expert and curator of historical collections.

Unveiling of the memorial plaque of Arne Novák

Another memorial plaque on the faculty's facade will commemorate an important professor of Czech literature and rector of Masaryk University during the Nazi occupation of Czechoslovakia.
