Reflections on how exiles can contribute to increasing the resilience of society in their original homeland are very topical at the moment. Many interesting and inspiring solutions can be found in our recent past - in the case of the Czech (not only) scientific exile. One can ask what opportunities Czech exiles had to support their acquaintances and certain groups in Czech society? How did communication between them take place? And which activities proved to be the most effective?

These and many other questions (concerning, for example, the activities of L. Matějka, J. Veltrusky, J. Škvorecký, Z. Salivarová, etc.) will be answered by the participants of the round table, which aims to contribute to the discussion on the forms, possibilities and activities of scientific exile in Europe from the second half of the 20th century to the present.

Moderator: Ondřej Sládek (Institute of the CAS), sladek@ucl.cas.cz

The event takes place within the framework of the AV21 Strategy Programme "Resilient Society for the 21st Century".
