Iveta Škripková's monograph Feminist Theatre and its Slovak Way is the first ever professional publication that deals with the penetration of feminist art and philosophy into Slovak theatre practice. A valuable contribution of the text by the eminent Slovak theatre scholar - author, director, theatre manager and theoretician Iveta Škripková - is precisely the focus on the documentation and in-depth analysis of feminist theatre in Slovakia since the 1990s.

However, the publication does not only provide an insight into the activities of the Banská Bystrica-based group T.W.I.G.A. and an interesting perspective on contemporary Slovak drama and theatre practice. In addition to an informed view of Slovak theatre, the reader will also become acquainted with world theoretical concepts of feminisms, feminist philosophy, feminist theatre, and the contributions and works of the most important feminist authors and artists.

It is a selective and subjective excursion into the issue - this is also its uniqueness, as it encourages the reader to reflect on the source codes of contemporary Slovak feminist theatre. Iveta Škripková can be considered its initiator and founder.

Mgr. Iveta Škripková, PhD. studied film and television dramaturgy and screenwriting at the Academy of Performing Arts in Bratislava and aesthetics at Charles University in Nitra. In 1985 she started working as a dramaturge at the Puppet Theatre at Rázcestí in Banská Bystrica and in 1992 she became its director. In 1993 and 1999 she studied in theatres in Marseille and Paris, and in 2002 she was part of the ArtsLink residency programme in Atlanta, USA.
