Ka3ka3: The Blue Light

  • 20 April – 22 May 2022
    7:00 AM – 8:00 PM
  • Edikula Gallery, building C, Arna Nováka 1, Brno

The Blue Light project created searching for connections between the digital world and human relationships by the artist performing under the pseudonym Ka3ka3 [kaškaš]. The exhibition deals with the growing phenomenon of social media, which has radically transformed human interactions. The artist notices changes on several levels, as well as in the language we commonly use. For example, the term friend is taking on a new meaning in the Internet environment. Today, a person described as a friend does not necessarily have to be close to us. With the arrival of Facebook, the concept changed and someone we have never met can be our friend. This semantic transformation is reflected in the object itself - the "hanging textile cocoon", which is changed each time it is installed. In addition, the work encourages visitors to interact, thus consolidating the whole idea of transformation.

With this project, the Edikula Gallery builds on previous exhibitions, where the work was presented, for example, in the Jihlava Regional Gallery (2021) or at the Sculptures in the Garden Festival, which takes place every year in Kroměříž (2019). The unifying element of the individual exhibitions is the blue light, which manifests itself in the main theme of social networks and the Internet in general. The colour blue refers not only to the colour of the logo of one of the main social media (Facebook) but also to the blue light that the screens emit.
