Description The only Buryat Buddhist temple outside Sibirian Buryatia homeland is Gunzeichoinei Temple (from Tibetan kun la brtse mdzad thub dbang dam chos byung bai gnas). It is located in the former Russian capital Saint-Petersburg. The monastery was founded in 1915 by Agvan Dorzhiev, important Buryat teacher an Buddhist monk, Tibetan ambassador to Russian Empire. The text provides common reader by an historival overview of the temple as well as religious and political context. The temple i re-opened nowadays. It is the first European Buddhist temle.
