Description The article describes the origin of the idea of the Brno exhibition of Gothic Art of Moravia and Silesia in 1935-1936 and the individual phases of the expert and organizational preparation among other things, the systematic research in situ. Attention is given to the essential role of Albert Kutal, the main expert authority of the project. The study also recaputilates numerous contemporary reactions, which mostly agreed on the opinion that the exhibition had contributed to the discovery of a new, so far unknown land on the map of Czech art history. Last but not least, the study reminds us of great professional contribution that the exhibition made to the future knowledge of and research in gothic art of Moravia and Silesia, in particular, the works of the Master of the so called Rajhrad Altar.
