Description The paper is devoted to the specification of the software art concept in relation to other names for digital media arts, specifically computer art and computer generated art. It deals with software art as a discipline that links mathematical, poetic and metaphysical understanding of computation (A. Lovelace), as discourse liberating software from pure logic of functionality in favor of its metaphorical function (A. Turing), and as artistic creativity exploring the limits of human and machine rationality and imagination, which we call programming of excesses.
