Description Achieved education decides the asserting oneself on the labour market, it is the yardstick of social status and from achieved education we also deduce the social capital of an individual today. It is thereby normal to endeavour the achievement of the highest education. How do people who prematurely left their education and ended up with basic (compulsory) education live today? The aim of this paper is to approximate, how adults with basic education consider their careers, how successful the job-seeking they are, and how they come to terms with the fact that it is "normal" to achieve higher education in the run of their careers. The paper stems from data from quality research phase of research supported by the Euroguidance Centre in the Czech Republic in years 2010-2012 on the topic: The needs of adults in relation to the building of their careers and how to satisfy these through career counselling and guidance services. We use the data collected through narrative and semi-structured interviews from six respondents from 22-41 years of age in this paper concretely. They prematurely left their education and can prove to have achieved only the certificate of basic (compulsory) education.
