| Description | The article deals with the position of names Bednář ("cooper") and Bednařík in the anthroponymic system of Bohemia, of Moravia and of the Czech part of Silesia from 12th to 21st ct. The name Bednář belongs to anthroponyms referring to the profession of their first bearer; during the whole investigated period this was a very important and productive type of names. Diminutive modifications of these names (Bednařík) were used to distinguish their bearers from people using the primary name (Bednář) and occurred more frequently from the 16th ct. |
