Description The aim of the paper is to solve the question whether Attila, the king of the Huns, could be followed as a sacral king and which type of sacral kingship he represents. The author comes to conclusion that not only his title "megistos tón theón", but also some other features of his reign, e.g. his faculty to interpret the auguries, his position in terms of criminal law or his approach to animals as the messengers of gods, indicate that Attila was a sacral king of the type known in the Ancient Orient.
