Description Transformation of new media studies into the theory of programmed media (software studies) can be interpreted as a response to the current situation of the computer age (for example, in response to the increasing awareness about the power of the grey zone of new media). We can recognize certain symptoms of this process in the effort to search for new methodological tools of new media studies as a discipline. One of the most provocative contributions within these activities is paper Towards Evil Media Studies ( 2007) by Matthew Fuller and Andrew Goffeye, followed by their book Evil media ( MIT Press 2012). The authors named the sources of their inspiration: Niccolo Machiavelli , Baltasar Gracian and especially Arthur Schopenhauer and his Eristische Dialektik : Die Kunst, Recht zu Behalten ). In the paper Towards Evil Media Studies they published an open list of tactics that researchers have to follow as well as to expand. Evil media studies cancel the boundary between the (critical) theory and ( creative / subversive ) practices connected with digital media. Participants of the one-day conference responded to the challenge. They investigated the intellectual background of evil media studies, as well as they searched for kinship with other research methods.
