| Description | In this article, the author deals with the problem of evaluation of the size of the Pecheneg groups in the Balkans during the second half of the 11th century. As a point of reference, he uses the Byzantine written sources extensively. Problems connected with this theme are still numerous and only very superficial research has been done so far. The author is also confronting the sources with the data collected from ethnographical studies of the nomadic communities living today in Central Asia in order to find more realistic numbers concerning the size of various Pecheneg groups. |
