Description I divided career of film director David Fincher into two stylistically quite different periods: extrovert films (1992-2002) and introvert films (2007-2014). Specific for first period were film extravagancy in contrast to the actual world, when cinematic revolt come out from artistic imitation of post/modern art techniques. Second period was apparently less narratively and stylistically progressive, but it is surprisingly much more innovative and artistically complex than the first one… Fincher (by contraries to the period before) bases his films mainly on novel adaptations when non-traditional narrative patterns of literature inspirations represent impulses for Fincher's maybe less obvious but aesthetically more enterprising game with (a) possibilities of cinema as artistic form, (b) ways of the defamiliarizing of past and present of the actual world. In my lecture I tested these hypotheses on formal analysis of each Fincher's film.
