Description We see performance analysis today as an established field, formed in 60ties, stemming especially from theatre semiotics, later being enriched by phenomenological and performative approaches. In Czech context term "performance analysis" is introduced in early 90ties, but of course analytical approach to theatre production/performance appears much earlier. I will try trace its origins back to 60ties (and maybe even further to inter-war period and Prague School theory), with special attention to intertwining of theoretical and practical approach to theatre art, dialogue between artists and theoreticians.
