Description The study is dedicated to the life and work of the Franz Götz, a composer of the second half of the 18th century. It is based on a bachelor thesis written in 2013 at the Faculty of Arts, Masaryk University Brno, which included a survey of the composer´s life, a list of his preserved compositions and a thematic catalogue of his compositions deposited in the Musical Archives of the Archbishop´s Castle in Kroměříž. Franz Götz was born on 29 July 1755 in Strašice in Bohemia. As a violinist and Kapellmeister he worked in three important musical centres – Brno, Jánský Vrch and Kroměříž where he spend biggest part of his life in the service of the Archbishop of Olomouc and where he also died on 17 December 1815. Franz Götz compositional heritage includes both sacred and profane compositions, today already forgotten.
