Description The literary works of classical Roman authors present an indispensable historical source for the problematic of studying children and childhood in ancient Rome. However, for the proper use of such source in a historical study, it is necessary for the researcher to be aware of its difficulties and limits. This chapter aims to present the essential content and methodological problems, which arise in the literary-historical analysis of classical Roman literature for the purpose of studying childhood in ancient Rome.
