Description In present article the author pays his attention to the conditions that led to the Gallipoli campaign. He examines them shortly within the context of the WW1. Subsequently the author offers a description of the actual landing operation on Gallipoli peninsula, and also later military clashes of opposing armies. This extremely demanding military campaign finally did not fulfill the hopes of its chief organizers and supporters (such as W. Churchill) and ended up in a huge fiasko. This military failure consequently contributed to the worsening of the strategic situation of the Entente powers in the Balkans and to the longer duration of the WW 1.
