Description A museum educator (regardless of the actual name of their position) is a well-defined and described museum profession. This paper examines the position and the role of a museum educator within the Framework of a modern museum through the prism of the sociology of profession which seeksto define professions as roles marked by high level of domain-specific education nad professional socialization, the existence of an ethical codex, hugh degree of specialization in everyday activities, the role of the client, freedom and authonomy and a high level of respect. Using these criteria, true professions and semi-professions are distinguished and in this paper, we seek to do the same for the profession of a museum educator.
