Description Successful development as relatively new area of research faces various problems. Among them is a certain inconsistency in terminology and definition of content. At present, it is studied from various aspects: psychological (maintaining balance between psychological characteristics), sociological (good functioning in society), and medical (good health and functioning). There are many theoretical and empirical approaches to successful development: Explanation offers us for example lifespan and life-course models. Successful development can also be seen in terms of adapting to the demands of society, or in terms of individual growth.
