Description School chronicles in the second half of the 19th century allow collecting information from larger geographic areas. Despite of being significantly different in terms of length and recording method, individual chronicles represent a valuable source of information for researchers. Authors of these chronicles were teachers and through their notes we are able to find out more about the lives of school children, problems of teachers in the 19th century and their social status. We can analyze national and international events and lives in villages. The paper focused on festivities in a social group of the village from the perspective of school chronicles as a unique but not yet explored source. Through these records it is possible to rebuild the process of official visits there, sanctification of buildings or celebrations of Christmas trees but mainly the position of the school and its involvement in social life. Thanks to the chronological recording information recorded in them is of indisputable importance for the creation of a complex view of the culture and life in a village of the 19th century.
