Description The paper deals with early medieval pottery which was discovered in occupation layers during excavations in Spálená Street in the centre of Brno. The ceramic material obtained was analysed using statistical methods, namely quantification, whose results are displayed in tables and graphs. First, it was necessary to reconstruct post-depositional processes and determine the homogeneity rate of ceramic finds in individual layers. Subsequently, pottery was analysed with regard to clay material, rim shapes, and decorative patterns. In the last part of the work, the results obtained were compared to analogical collections from Brno and the surroundings and dated precisely. Among the early medieval pottery from Spálená Street, three chronological phases were distinguished, ranging from the 7th century to the end of the 12th century.
