Description In our contribution we present a study analyzing interpersonal characteristics of students enrolled on a teacher training programme for lower degrees of elementary schools. A questionnaire was completed by 200 teacher trainees. Our results indicated that teacher trainees were very similar to experienced teachers in their interpersonal trait profiles, which mostly included adaptive interpersonal behaviours with relatively strong dominance and affiliation components. While teacher trainees considered teacher's personality as an essential component of teaching, most of them viewed their present training programme as insufficient in promoting positive traits.
