Citation
Description The monograph contains the edition of the abstracts of the charters and letters from the archives in West, North and East Bohemia, issued by Sigismund (1368/1437), Holy Roman Emperor and King of Hungary and Bohemia. It is the second volume of the planned complete revision of the edition of abstracts "Urkunden Kaiser Sigmunds" (Innsbruck 1896/1900) published by Wilhelm Altmann within the framework of the Regesta Imperii. The volume has a large historical introduction, bibliography and index. The book adds primarily to the historical documentation of the major cities of Eger/Cheb, Pilsen/Plzeň and Elbogen/Loket in West Bohemia which remained loyal to the king and received a considerable number of regal charters. Furthermore, the book sheds light on the career and estate property of Sigismund's influential chancellor Kaspar Schlick, a burgher's son from Eger, who laid the cornerstone to the rise of his family to comital dignity, partly by forging alleged regal charters which were painstakingly investigated for this volume.
