Description The same named exhibition organized within the program Pilsen – European Capital of Culture 2015 has been accompanied by this Czech and German publication. Munich was around 1900 a vivid metropolis of artists from the whole world. The Munich Academy of Fine Arts reached gradually the reputation of the most prestigious artistic school in Central Europe. In Munich, the first one of central European Secessions was founded in 1892 and Der blaue Reiter, the famous group of avant-gardist artists, was established in 1911. Artists from Bohemia and Moravia participated distinctively in this rich developments. At the beginning of the publication, the attention is drawn to three important themes: Munich as the city of art, The Munich Academy of fine arts and Fluctuation of Czech artists between Munich and Paris. The hitherto few examined phenomenon of the artistic exchange between Munich and the lands of Bohemian Crown is reflected in four thematic circles: Munich and artists, The legacy of the Munich school, The Munich Secession and Fin de siecle, as well as Expression and Avant-garde. The selected works of painting, drawing and graphics are analyzed in detailed entries. In all fifty artists are introduced at the publication. It is the result of cooperation between two main authors and further art historians from Czech Republic, Germany and France.
