Citation
Description The work of Jean Cocteau contains three fundamental works from the standpoint of his personal poetics: Orpheus is the play from 1926, then its movie adaptation Orphée (1949) and the film Testament of Orpheus from 1960. These three outputs are linked with other small works of the same author and transform the archetypal myth according to Carl Gustav Jung (the archetypes and the unconscious). The dream also inspired the shape of poet´s creations: dramatic, cinematic and poetic works as well. Regarding Cocteau it is appropriate to consider his imagination, dreaming, hallucinations and poetic fantasies which form an important part of his creative processes.
