| Description | František Mareš (1857-1942) was an original Czech idealist, which fought for his work against the prevailing positivism in the Czech philosophical environment . Mareš criticized Darwinism (from Mareš’s neovitalistic position) as a mechanistic way. Mareš in his criticism argues primarily with insufficiency of darwinism for explanation of evolution , refers to the individual examples in nature that it would be difficult to explain mechanistically , and not least his reasoning also moves in a moral plane . Some points of Mareš’s criticism from the perspective of modern science seem outdated , others are still valid. |
