Description The paper deals with the doping and generally lifestyle of ancient athletes and gladiators. During the analyses, there appeared several problems like the lack of written sources or the question of what can and cannot be considered as doping, because we are missing information, according to which we can declare some of the substances as doping or we can eliminate these from this classification. Even so, according to some indicators, which we deal with in the paper, we can surely speak about doping or at least enhancing before the sport match itself, eventually a war one. Due to the professionalization of Greek athletics, sport was significantly commercialized and doping and other ways of strenghtening and diets have become a part of the lifestyle of ancient athletes, charioteers and gladiators.
