Description In antiquity lead was used prevalently for manufacturing curse tablets, while for protective amulets gold, silver, papyri or semi-precious stones were used. Only in late antiquity the people begin to make use of lead for healing or protective amulets and this use is good attested also in Middle Ages, as the new discovery of the lead amulet from hillfort Dřevíč shows. This contribution tries to set this singular find without parallels in Czech Republic into the broader context of magical artefacts on lead, as they were used in the Greco-Roman antiquity.
