Description The aim of the contribution was to compare the level of reading literacy between fourth-graders, whose teachers use critical thinking methods, and fourth-graders, whose teachers do not use these methods. The data were collected from March to May 2017 by way of a reading test. The research sample contained about 200 pupils of the 4th grade of primary school, whose Czech language teachers use critical thinking methods in lessons, and nearly the same amount of fourth-graders, whose teachers do not use these methods. The data were analysed with standard statistic procedures. From the gained data we could find out that results of pupils, who are taught with critical thinking methods, are statistically significantly better than results of other pupils.
