Description The exhibition is devoted to one of the distinctive names of Czech art of the 20th century. On the work of the painter and theorist Emil Filla (1882–1953) we look through a collection that has been acquired over several decades into the collection of the East Bohemian Gallery. The show focuses on the confrontation of Filla's mature and late works with the early work of his students, who in 1946–1953 passed his studio of monumental painting at the Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design in Prague. The exhibition of oil paintings and works on paper is held in cooperation with the Institute of Art History of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic and is supplemented by examples of the cycle of suggestive late portraits by Emil Filla. Their author is the photographer Josef Sudek (1896–1976), who has been accompanying the painter in the late years.
