Description Paper conducts scales and topics of interconnections of ethnology and contemporary history focused on second part of 20th century. Era, with strong impact on recent times, which involves also work of researchers. They must collaborate with other disciplines dealing with recent issues of our civilization. Such as sociology, political science or ethnology, when we can remove adjective “historical”. On the contemporary history field boundaries between recent and past seem to be relative. Sources collected by “contemporary” ethnologists few decades ago could be valuable for recent researchers focused on recent history. Otherwise focus on qualitative research is one of sticking points of ethnologists and historians – at least those who use oral history method. Perspectives of mutual evaluation of research work will be shown on example of presenter’s doctoral research, which is focused on changes of social life during socialist era and is based on methodological and theoretical roots connected with ethnology and contemporary history too.
