Description Veronica, a journal for nature and landscape protection, has been published in Brno since 1986. It promotes a friendly relationship with nature and landscape. Unlike similar environment-oriented journals, it associates expert articles on the problems of nature and landscape with culture; especially with literature and the visual arts. Veronica’s editorial board managed to bring together natural scientists from diverse disciplines; including sociologists, historians, foresters, urban planners, professional and voluntary conservationists and artists. Over the course of 30 years, 152 regular issues have been published, together with 19 special issues and several books. Veronica’s key themes include, for example, territorial systems of ecological stability, restoration of the harmonious rural landscape, traditional fruit-growing, water in the countryside, nature-close forestry, and environmental education. A recent endeavour from the realm of the arts is the book Landscapes of heart, published on the 30th anniversary of the magazine. In this book, dozens of celebrities from various disciplines express their relationship with particular Czech and Slovak landscapes.
