Description The paper deals with Fyodor Dostoyevsky's critical study about a short story Zapechatlennyj angel (Engl. Sealed Angel) written by Nikolay Leskov, a Russian writer of the second half of the 19th century who was, after publishing an article about fires in Petersburg, excluded from the mainstream of Russian literature, and became just a peripheral writer. Dostoyevsky wrote the critical study Smyatennyj vid (Engl. Careworn Face) in the year 1873, as a 7th part of his Diary of a Writer. According to the elements in Leskov's short story which Dostoyevsky highlights, not only different approach of Dostoyevsky and Leskov to the literature, but also Dostoyevsky's personal attention to Leskov is shown.
