Description The case study is devoted to the learning block focused on the identification of conditions for the development of ancient-oriental civilizations, specifically focused on natural conditions as a determinant of the development of agriculture in the territory of Mesopotamia. Pupils had to work in the learning block individually with the sources of information and record the findings in the form of a mind map. Already from the previous education, they were familiar with this way: they were able to support their learning by mind-mapping. The case study deals with the difficulty of interconnecting the transformation of the content of the educational field and the simultaneous development of competence for learning. In the end, it discusses pedagogical potential of the lessons learned and the possibilities of its improvement.
