Description Connection between literature and criticism, literature and philosophy or, for example, literature and sociology, is one of the most important features of Russian literature, especially in the 19th century. The present paper deals with an approach of writers whose critical papers definitely meant enrichment for literary criticism. The author focuses on the three critical papers in Dostoyevsky’s Diary of a Writer. On the base of these papers, she defines the approach of Dostoyevsky, the writer and critic in one person, to a literary artifact and also tries to answer the question how a perspective of the writer influences approach to the literary work.
