Description This article proposes a review of two studies on the neology of young French people, carried out during four stages over a thirty-year period (1987-2017). Based on the results of slang specialist Marc Sourdot’s surveys with his students between 1987 and 1994, the observation of the circulation and the evolution of semantics of some twenty lexemes in 2010 and 2017 leads us to consider neology as a repetitive psycho-social phenomenon whose conceptualization is difficult as much as its entry in the dictionaries is selective.
