Description This article deals with the cult of veneration of the dead (ancestors) and their posthumous portraits in ancient Rome. There were a whole series of festivities connected with this tradition and also with the ancient calendar. These feasts and celebrations are predecessors of the contemporary lore, traditions and present-day holidays. The article surveys these feast and traditions and looks for a connection between the ancient and present world.
