Description | A look at the media shows in what suicidal fascination we live - though, or just because the suicide is still a taboo. However, if one follows the history of European philosophy, one realizes the radical revaluation of suicide since modern times. It becomes a protest in politics, a strategy of attack, but also a fundamental theme of philosophy and literature. The following pages deal exactly with these literary forms. For a consideration of suicide in narrative literature makes it possible to work out this as a means of self-constitution. The present study aims to show how this happens. Thus, according to the view of philosophical, sociological and medical suicide debates, the focus is on three Austrian texts and their suicide motives: Ingeborg Bachmann's Der Fall Franza, Peter Handke's Wunschloses Unglück and Thomas Bernhard's Der Untergeher. |
