Description The book From Moravian Meadows to the Balkan Mountains came into being on the occasion of the sixtieth birthday of historian, Slavist and versatile Balkanist Václav Štěpánek, associate professor of the Department of Slavonic Studies, Faculty of Arts, Masaryk University in Brno. It is the work of his friends and pupils, the core of which are thirty-two studies written by Czech, Serbian, Slovak and Bulgarian scholars, which thematically reflect a diverse range of V. Štěpánek’s professional interests ranging from history, ethnology and images of the Balkans to national minorities’ issues and Czech (Czechoslovak) relations with the Balkans to South Slavic literatures, Moravian ethnography and landscape ecology. The book also includes an extensive selected bibliography of V. Štěpánek and three texts that illustrate his career, professional profile and pedagogical activities.
