Description This paper aims to describe the diplomatic mission of Jaroslav Lípa to Yugoslavia. This Czechoslovak career diplomat served as an envoy to Yugoslavia during World Ward II, as well as in the period before and after the war. Based on primary sources, both official and private, and on limited availabe secondary literature, the paper describes Lípa's communication withe pre-war Yugoslav establishment in the extremely delicate period after 15 March 1939, during which Lípa, as one of the leaders of the Czechoslovak resistance in Yugoslavia, organized transfer of Czechoslovak refugees to the Middle East and to the West and dispatched messages from occupied Czechoslovakia. Important aspects of the ambassador's mission to the Yugoslav government-in-exile in London are also examined. The paper also explores Lípa's activities in the postwar period, when he was briefly reengaged as an envoy to liberated Yugoslavia.
