Description The development of verbal reduplication in OIA reflexes the development of whole tense-aspect system. The formalizing of different reduplicated stems started with the distinction between the INFECTUM (non stative) and the PERFECTUM (stative stem), being caused by the introduction of modal system to the PERFECTUM. Different reduplicated stems are distinguished by their ablaut value and secondary stems, added to the system later, as for example the causative aorist, are following the same system.
